90 minute DVD video order now!The DVD is an easy-to-follow, interactive adventure series. Children laugh and play while discovering How To Print the complete English alphabet. The outrageous Professor Scribble escorts Violet throughout his whimsical mansion, visiting such locations as the observatory, green house, game room, library, music room, and archeological basement. Children help their puppet-like friends Violet, Professor Scribble, his dog Alphie, and the Amazing Bob solve the mystery of the rooms and earn the keys to their educational journey. The rooms become increasingly more imaginative as Violet learns how to print the alphabet.

Children learn to print the alphabet with Violet by practicing in the “Amazing Writer”™, a unique interactive dry-erase book. Children can write and erase letters as often as necessary to master their new skills. Color-coded and numbered, the Amazing Writer clearly indicates “Start” and “Stop” for each UPPER and lower-case version of every letter.

The Write On! Printing products appeal to parents by giving their children an educational advantage in a fun, entertaining manner. A team of award-winning professionals -- educators, writers, animators, musicians, and graphic designers -- developed the products in accordance with national curriculum standards. The products utilize state-of-the-art technology for top-quality viewing and listening experiences and easy accessibility. Children can learn to print the alphabet from any television, computer, or other device that plays DVDs or CDs.

FAQ

Aren’t children going to learn the alphabet in school, anyway?
Research has shown that children who already have a working knowledge of the alphabet when entering kindergarten have a much easier transition into using and understanding language as a whole. This, in turn, prepares them to excel in both the educational arena and in life.

How is Write On!different from other printing programs that are available?
Write On!™ is America’s first and only interactive DVD Tutor that teaches handwriting. Young children are already scribbling basic shapes like lines, circles, squares, and triangles.  With verbal and visual instructions that are both
fun and engaging, Write On!™ helps children turn those “scribbles” into letters of the alphabet.

What about parents who worry about their children spending too much time watching TV?
Write On!™ provides parents with a valuable educational alternative to the current programming aimed at children, much of which tries to teach a moralistic lesson but fails to contain any valuable educational content. With Write On!™, parents can be assured that the time their children do spend in front of the television will be engaging, productive, and provide a fundamental advantage in furthering their understanding and use of language.

Why don’t you teach printing in alphabetical order?
The Write On!™ program has organized the alphabet in a developmentally progressive order. It teaches printing by focusing on the basic drawing strokes necessary to form letters. In fact, there is even a page in the Amazing Writer™ that allows children to practice the strokes used in forming letters: horizontal lines, vertical lines, slanted lines, the “c” shapes, and circles. By grouping the letters in terms of the drawing strokes used, children practice
the same fine motor skills repeatedly, even though they are printing different letters. For example, Chapter 1 of the Write On DVD teaches the letters “c”, “o”, “a”, and “d”, each of which begins with the “c” shape. Since the same stroke is practiced throughout a grouping of letters, the letters within that group are more easily learned, and the new fine motor patterns children practice are reinforced.

What about D’Nealian or Modern?
D’Nealian or Modern is a method of printing in which the letters are slanted and slightly curved. It was invented and marketed to replace vertical, block-style printing and create an easier transition from printing to cursive handwriting. However, research has not indicated that using D’Nealian or Modern provides any benefit over traditional, block-style printing. Moreover, a child's environment is filled with letters long before they begin to learn how to print them. These letters, in children's books, games, and TV shows, are all shown in the traditional, block-style. The Write On!™  program reinforces the letter style that children are already familiar with, which makes learning penmanship more meaningful and fun.

How do I know Write On! will help my child learn to print?
Write On!™ Printing was developed by an award-winning team of educators, writers, animators, and graphic designers. The program uses the natural method of teaching how to print, which is based on extensive research
of cognitive and creative developmental processes.

Can I use other brand name dry-erase pens in my Amazing Writer™?
Although we can not guarantee results, tests have proven that most dry-erase pens work equally as well.

Is Write On!™ available on VHS tape?

Write On!™ is only available on DVD. The DVD format allows children quick, easy access to the practice portions of the program, encouraging children to practice their printing skills with more frequency than a VHS tape would allow.
